I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I took a little time off the last week to enjoy family and friends and soak in this magical time. But, this weekend will be all about taking time to think about what was accomplished in the last year and be thankful for the successes and memories and to set goals for the coming year. To help start this off, I’ll be working on re-organizing my office. That is, if my shelves ever arrive — I’ve literally been sitting by the door all day waiting. I have no patience. I guess that’s something I should work on in 2019.
I also wanted to share one of the last home projects we worked on — Hanging our pendant light! This light was actually the first thing we bought, before I even closed on the house, and it’s the last thing we finally got up. This was another project we planned to hire out for, but after the hurricane it became increasingly difficult to find anyone with availability. Luckily for us, my Dad knows all about home improvement and my parents came to visit and help us get the last of these projects done. Take a look below at the before and after!
The pup needs to be involved in everything we do, so of course he chose the unluckiest spot to join us (under 2 ladders!! Silly dog).
This project begs the question, how many people does it take to screw in a lightbulb?…The whole damn family apparently.
And then we learned how to be electricians, stand on the tip top of the ladder, and bend metal because of our slanted ceiling. Ok, ok, we didn’t didn’t bend metal, we just bought a half size chain link to even it out.
AND THE REVEAL!!! I love it =) You should also know that my parents gave this table to us. They found it for $40 and my dad sanded, re-stained, and painted it for us. It’s figgin’ beautiful.
That’s all for now, wishing you all the happiest new year!!

Lately it feels like its been overcast everyday. I keep watching the weather for a day that’ll bring a colorful sunrise, but no such luck. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we’ll get a good one, but for now I want to share a few photo from my last beach session.
There was no sun in sight, but it was such a beautiful, peaceful morning on a day that was fairly warm. I had fun playing around with new editing techniques and bringing out some brighter colors, so check them out below along with an update on my Etsy site – Wright + Roam!
I also wanted to give a little Etsy update! — I’m working to launch my site in the next week/week and half. I’m just waiting on some shipping supplies to arrive and working on the finishing touches for a couple new images! I’ve got the banner ready and I’ll be working on the listings this weekend. I can’t believe it’s almost ready!!
Such a still day and I love how the water was so icy blue.
And of course, I always have to break the rules a little with some hand held long exposures.
This blog post is for all of those sitting on the couch, full + happy from from great food and wonderful times spent with family. My parents got to see the new house for the first time this weekend, which has been great. We’ve had days of great food, shopping, and a big win for the Buckeyes! Safe to say, it’s been a great and needed long weekend. I hope you all enjoyed these few days and are now relaxing before the week begins!
I’ve also been able to go through the images I got from last weeks hiking/Charlotte trip. I was really worried we scheduled this trip too late and the fall leaves would be gone, but I’m so happy I was wrong. The top of the mountain was starting to lose leaves, but the golds and reds still covered the drive and all of the lower walk. We hiked Kings Pinnacle at Crowder Mountain State Park. It was about a 4 mile hike with really beautiful views at the top. The hike to the peak was pretty steep, but I highly recommend this trail! So, while your digesting crazy amounts of thanksgiving turkey + potatoes, I hope you can take a few minutes to enjoy these fall filled photos.
A day late here, cause I just got back from a night in Charlotte. I’ll share some of those photos next week, but for now I wanted to share a little update on the house! After we got our countertops finished, the house was starting to feel too white and grey and I needed a little color in my life.
I originally wanted to do a dark teal-y green like this kitchen on pinterest, but it didn’t quite fit the rest of the decor right now. Matt was not entirely on board with my dreams of green and gold accent colors, but I think the muted jade I settled on made him less worried. I ended up choosing Privilege Green – part of the HGTV Home collection at Sherwin Williams. I absolutely love it.
Painting the island was such a quick way to break up the neutrals and if we get tired of it, it’s super easy to change. See everything I used below, this whole thing took maybe 2 hours — with dry time being the biggest time delay.
All the tools:
First coat painted, then went back through with the little brush for the edges.
I love how the color turned out. I’ve been kicking it into high gear getting everything decorated and finished here, I want it done for the holidays. My parents are visiting for Thanksgiving and they get here tomorrow! This is their first time seeing the house, so I’m trying to get it as ready as possible — I guess I should go get started on cleaning everything. Have a wonderful weekend and thanksgiving week everyone!
